Launching in early 2018: Tyne Music Theatre
Angela Evans , Principal and owner of Tyne Music Theatre has been performing since she was young. She is a classically trained soprano, with experience of singing in many venues and theatres in the North East, this led to Angela winning many awards in the past at various festivals throughout the region . She has even represented the North East in a national singing competition.
Angela has a long term affiliation with Whickham School, both as a student, parent, former employee and Whickham resident, this was the perfect place for her theatre school, so she grabbed the opportunity with both hands!

She played various parts in musicals there, including the role of Annie in her first year, when she was only 11. She then went on to join The Tyne Theatre Stage School, where she performed in many musicals. During her time there, she was lucky enough to be chosen to take part in BAYFEST which was an exchange programme, where students from New York and Newcastle put on a show. They performed here, at the Tyne Theatre and also in Brooklyn,New York. at the Brooklyn College for the Preparatory of Arts Centre, which was the very place, the series "Fame" was made! She made a return to musical theatre last year playing "Annette "at The Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Astravaganza's production of Annie.
Angela has past experience in both television and film, and has recently stepped back into the industry working with Tyne Music Ltd in a production of Platform 2, an adaptation based of Dennis Westgate's musical Platform 9. Her next project will be another one of Dennis's: Broken Doll, she will be directing this as well as playing one of the lead roles. TMT will be working in collaboration with Tyne Music Ltd on various original musicals to bring them to the stage for their debut. TMT students will be performing these.

She has taken a step back in recent years but has always had a dream of running owning her own theatre school, and so Tyne Music Theatre is born.
Over the years Angela has worked in various schools across Gateshead, providing educational support for children. She specialises in Behaviour Management as well as having vast experience working with children with autism. As part of her lessons she teaches role play and music to give the children a chance to express themselves.
"Performing is a great way of promoting self confidence and self esteem. You can get lost in a role - it makes you feel good and takes you somewhere else for a while . There really is no feeling like it! "
At Tyne Music Theatre, we will be providing young people with a platform to be who they want to be!
Each week we will be providing, dance, drama and music/singing tuition over a 3 hour period. This will take place every Saturday morning (term time: check with us about dates as LEAs vary) at Whickham School and Sports College."
Angela and the team will work with all students to provide the skills and guidance needed to enhance their performance ability, whilst also giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent. Both in class as well as on stage. All staff have experience of working with children and hold a current DBS.
Performances will take place in the main hall at Whickham School. Full details of the first performance A Night With The Stars!, is coming soon. Angela chosen this title as it holds very fond memories for her, as it was a concert students and teachers performed as a tribute to a very talented teacher who was an inspiration to
The concert will include songs from West Side Story, Les Miserables, and Matilda, to name but a few, as well as a selection from the very talented local writer and composer Mr. Dennis Westgate.
