South Shields Armstrong’s Bar (Formally The Armstrong Hall)
Thursday 20th - Friday 21st February 2020

South Shields theatre company Walton-Gunn Productions announce the cast for their newest show, Peter & Petula’s Slumberland Sing-Along. A show making a return after its run at The Westovian Theatre in South Shields. Eighteen year old actor Georgina Whale-Spencer, daughter of well known North East entertainer Ray Spencer will take on the role of Petula Plank, sister of Peter Plank. Following in her fathers footsteps, Georgina has already begun carving out a reputation as a quality performer, topped off by a top award last year.

Last year N.O.D.A held their annual awards celebration in Newcastle, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association had nominated the pantomime Goldilocks and the Three Bears for two awards. One of which was a performance award for Georgina and the other a best panto award, both for the Westovians panto production. After all was said and done, the best panto award was won for The Westovians Theatre in South Shields. That wasn’t the only win of the night though as Georgina Whale-Spencer also won the individual performance award for her role as the ‘magical and brilliantly funny’ Silly Billy.

Georgina never content with sitting back and not performing, went on to bag a role as the title character Wendy The Witch in the companies Halloween production. A role that already had a great pedigree of talent attached in the past.

After working with Georgina twice now, Walton-Gunn producer Stacy Walton knew that she was the perfect choice to take over the role in their newest panto production. “Georgina was just right for taking over the role, she has bags of talent and energy and is a joy to work with. She’s the one to take Petula to a different level” Said Stacy.

Joining Georgina as her brother is Santa’s Naughty Elf star Wayne Miller, who gave his final performance as Elfluent the Naughty Elf this year at The Customs House in South Shields. Wayne returns to the beloved role of Peter Plank, the hapless and hopeless character who with Petula decides to through a slumber party. “I’m so pleased we can bring in a talent as good and up and coming as Georgina. She’s the type of performer that elevates everyone around her. I have no doubt she will have the audience in the palm of her hand and will keep me on my toes.” adds Wayne.

From Wendy to Petula, Georgina will continue to entertain her South Shields audiences this February, when the production moves to new venue Armstrongs Bar, formerly The Armstrong Hall. A venue that is changing and offering more than your average pub/club, with not only live music, but a growing list of family productions and comedy too. Something the young actor is looking forward to. “It’s so nice to be back working with Wayne and Walton-Gunn Productions. It’s always great to be part of a production in a role I’ve never played before, but even more when it’s a new venue. We get to make it our own and put our stamp on it. I hope it brings in a lot of new people to the place and it’s the beginning of something special there” Says Georgina.
