The Adventures Of Robin Hood In Cooksonville

South Shields Customs House

Thursday 24th November 2022 - Saturday 7th January 2023.

South Shields arts centre, The Customs House, will be all a quiver this Christmas as they head to the magical land of Cooksonville Forest to tell the enchanting tale of Robin Hood for the 2022 Little Panto With The Big Heart.

The legend of Robin Hood has been turned into a rollicking family panto by deft writing team Ray Spencer and Graeme Thompson, previously responsible for award-winning pantos including Snow White, Rapunzel and Beauty and the Beast. Opening at The Customs House on Thursday 24th November 2022 and running until Saturday 7th January 2023, The Adventures Of Robin Hood In Cooksonville is packed with spectacular song, dazzling dance, magical Christmas moments and lots and lots of laughs.

This year’s cast is a sterling mix of Customs House Panto favourites alongside a host of new faces who together will deliver another magical Christmas panto for young and old. Executive Director of The Customs House, Ray Spencer, has been involved in The Customs House panto since 1995, as writer, director and most recently as panto dame. He will once again star as Dame Bella Ballcock, alongside Davey Hopper as her hapless son, Arbuthnot – a popular partnership that is now in its sixth year.

They will be joined by BBC Radio Newcastle favourite Alfie Joey as ALL of the Merry Men, Marquelle Ward as Robin Hood, Lucy Elizabeth Davis as Maid Marion, Kieron Michaels and Susie Barrett as Henchmen, Andrew Borthwick and Rebecca Withers as Swings. Members of South Tyneside Dance Workshop are also returning to the show.

The Customs House Executive Director; Ray Spencer commented: “It’s that time of year again and we are delighted to have assembled such a brilliant cast which includes the multi-talented Alfie Joey, who has also designed the set and costumes. Dame Bella can’t wait to ride through the Glen”

Alfie Joey added “'This is the opportunity of a lifetime. I am a massive fan of pantomime but to be involved with the very production that my family have long enjoyed, it is a dream come true. I will be giving it my all!'

The Adventures Of Robin Hood In Cooksonville, sponsored by Hays Travel and Colmans, runs from Thursday 24th November 202 and runs until Saturday 7th January 2023. Tickets priced from £12 as available online at, in person from The Customs House box office, or telephone 0191 454 1234.
